Joseph C. Dehner (March 2, 1913 - January 18, 2009)

Funeral Services for Joseph C. Dehner, 95 of East Moline, formerly of Viola, will be Wednesday at 11:00 AM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo.
Visitation is one hour prior to services.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM at Shiloh Cemetery, Middletown, Iowa.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, The Arthritis Foundation or the Viola United Methodist Church.
Joseph died on Sunday, January 18, 2009 at his residence. Joseph was born on March 2, 1913 in Burlington, Iowa to Carl A. & Edna (Reid) Dehner. He married Lillian Murphy on November 15, 1933 in Burlington, Iowa. She preceded him in death on November 21, 1990.
Joseph was employed with John Deere, Harvester Works for 29 years as a Crane Operator, retiring in 1973. He was a member of the United Auto Workers, #865. He was a member of the Viola United Methodist Church. In his spare time, Joseph enjoyed hiking the State Parks, walking in the malls, bird watching and working in his yard.
Joseph is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Victor & Amelia of Nevada, Iowa; 10 grandchildren and spouses; Vicky & Mark Kelly of Thornton, CO, Shelly & Scott Nive of Story City, IA; Kelly Dehner of Las Vegas, NV; Gordon & Michele Shoppe of Austin, TX; Tim & Diana Shoppe of Zearing, IA; Peggy & Kris Kropf of Lowell, MI; Randy & Anita Shoppe of Hardin, MT; Dean & Rhonda Shoppe of Nevada, IA; Lavona Berglund of Jacksonville, FL and Andy and Deb Berglund of East Moline; 17 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; brothers: Ralph Dehner of Burlington, IA; Ernest Dehner of East Moline and David Dehner of Burlington, IA. Also surviving is a special friend, Mary Lou Land of Silvis.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lillian; daughter, Sherry Berglund in 1981; and brothers: Albert, Charles, Andrew and Clarence; a sister, Marian Fynquist and a granddaughter, Teresa Berglund in 1984. Speer Funeral Home Aledo, IL.
