Woodland-Sidney Alvester Ward, 91, died Sunday, June 22, 2008, at his home in Woodland. He was born July 10, 1916, in Woodland to Benjamin E Ward and Mary Guest Ward. He was a retired farmer and a member of Woodland Baptist Church. He wa a T/Sergeant in the US Army during World War II and the recipient of the Bronze Star Medal.

Services will be at 11 am Saturday at Houston Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Dendy and the Rev. Carl Morris officiating. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery.

He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Julius E. WArd, William R. Ward, Leslie "Cap" Ward, Adrian D. Ward, Maylon E. Ward and Hollis E. Ward;and four sisters, Eula Mae Pate, Clara "Hallie" Earp, Rose Cole and Lillie F. Ward.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Woodland Baptist Church.
