ABREU NORRIS was born on December 1, 1916 in the Ashland District of San Lorenzo. He passed away at the age of 86, in Folsom, California on March 9, 2003. Norris was a life-long parishioner at St. John's Catholic Church in San Lorenzo. He lived in San Lorenzo for 75 years before moving to Pleasanton in 1991. In 2002, he moved again, this time to Folsom, California. Norris was a 1934 graduate of Hayward High School. He worked for Del Monte Cannery before World War II and he served his country at the Oakland Shipyard during the War. He later worked for Independent Lithograph in San Francisco and H.S. Crocker, Co. in San Bruno, California. Norris was also a self-employed engraver, doing business as Engraving Specialties until late last year. He is survived by his loving wife of over 63 years, Gertes Abreu. He also leaves 3 children, Gary Abreu of Vacaville, Kathleen Praske of Pleasanton, and Neal Abreu of Folsom, six grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation for Norris will be on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Grissom's Chapel & Mortuary, 267 E. Lewelling Blvd., San Lorenzo. A Vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. at the chapel on Wednesday. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, at 10 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church, 264 E. Lewelling Blvd., San Lorenzo. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
