Norvin L. Bourne, Sr., 78, Harrodsburg, died Tuesday, July 5, at Haggin Memorial hospital there, of a heart attack.
An Owen County native, born November 13, 1898, he was the son of Walter and Cora McCormack Bourne of Cedar Hill. He was a retired state highway department employee, with 30 years of service, and a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church where he helped establish three missions that later developed into churches. He was also a member of the Kentucky Farm Bureau, Kentucky Historical Society, and was a Kentucky Colonel. His wife, Viola Thomas Bourne, a native of Squiresville, preceeded him in death, April 9, 1975.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Louise Holland, Springfield, Ill., Mrs. Jayne Bryant, Frankfort, Mrs. Cora Ann Lewis, Harrodsburg, one son, Norvin Lee Bourne, Jr., Ashland, one brother, Hugh Brown, Clarksville, Ind. and six grandchildren.
Funeral services were held 11 a.m., Friday, at Smither-Coates with Rev. S. C. Gash officiating. Burial was in Squiresville cemetery.
