Donald E. Bozarth, 87, of Athens died Saturday, March 22, 2008, at Sunny Acres Nursing Home in Petersburg. He was born Feb. 14, 1921, in Williamsville, the son of William and Willie Duggins Bozarth. He married Doris Fisher on April 6, 1940, in Springfield; she preceded him in death on April 27, 2005. He was also preceded in death by six sisters and five brothers.

Mr. Bozarth served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a charter member of Athens VFW, American Legion and Van Meter Lodge 762 for 50 years, where he was also a past master. Mr. Bozarth served as a deputy for Menard County Sheriff's Department. He was an alderman for the city of Athens for several years. Don was a 32nd degree Shriner and retired from Bert's Service after several years. Mr. Bozarth had volunteered in many community activities through the years.

Surviving are two daughters, Donna (Howard) Mallonee and Patricia Tomlin, both of Athens; six grandsons, Charles (Dee) and Michael (Ann) Simmons, Lenny (Renee) Williams, Donnie Mulkins and Chris (Lisa) and Jason Tomlin; three granddaughters, Deanne (Rick) Mulkins, Lana Williams and Nicole (Joe) Antonacci; 16 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens with Masonic services. Graveside services at Joel Hall Cemetery in Athens with the Rev. Ron Ferricks officiating.
