Earl Leon Turner, age 77, of Front Royal, passed away Sunday, June 29, 2008 at his home.

A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, July 3, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Turner-Robertshaw Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery.

Leon was born in Front Royal on May 9, 1931, a son of the late Calvin Homer and Janie Moore Licklider Turner. He served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict and was a carpenter by trade. Leon belonged to the Bennetts Chapel United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Smith Turner; his daughters, Kimery Turner Eshelman and husband Mike of Front Royal, and Teresa H. Alger and husband Richard of Winchester; his sisters, Betty Manuel of Front Royal and Juanita Pullen of Harrisonburg; his grandchildren, Heather Clatterbuck, Colby Brown, Andrea Hamrick, and Michael Hamrick; and his great-grandson, Wyatt Logan Clatterbuck.

In addition to his parents, Leon was preceded in death by his brother, Calvin Warren Turner and his sister, Nancy Turner Kirkland.

Pallbearers will be Stewart Burke, Ashby Crowder, Chuck Eshelman, Larry Miller, Buddy Riel and Bob Engle.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 2, 2008 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
