She was born May 19, 1958, in Plainview, Texas, to George Hyrum and Gae Maurice Chandler Griffith. She grew up and attended schools in Garden City.
Mrs. Butler moved from Garden City to Friend in 1982, moved to Dalhart, Texas in 1989 and returned to Friend in 2001. She was manager of the Dalhart Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, owner and operator of the Dalhart Airport Cafe, owner and operator of the Snack Bar at Dalhart Bowl and also worked as a cook at Community Day Care No. 1 in Garden City. She attended Prairie View Church of the Brethren, Friend.
A private family graveside service was at Prairie View Church of the Brethren Cemetery in Friend.
