Earl Thompson was born May 24, 1893 in Morgan County near Rugby, Tennessee to Millard and Martha Thompson (Brewster really). As a young man, he moved to Fowler, Indiana where he married Luvernie Langford on Dec. 21, 1913. The couple moved to Bryant, So. Dak. in 1914 and Sioux Falls in 1916. Mr. Thompson was employed with John Morrell Company, retiring in 1958. His retirement years were spent in Madison, So. Dak. and Harlingen, Texas. Mrs. Thompson passed away on Dec. 25, 1974. Since that time Mr. Thompson has made his home at the Good Smaritan Village. He survived by one son, Virgil, of Sioux Falls; six daughter, Mrs. John (Alice) Wetzel, Washington, Utah, Mrs. Melvin (Edna) Helberg of Sioux Falls, Mrs. Henry (Ethel) Brandt of Hartford, Mrs. Virgil (Irene) Hansler, Vivian, So. Dak., Mrs. Don (Margie) Wengert, Seal Beach, Calif., and Mrs. Chester (Ruth) Murphey of Sioux Falls; 31 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
