Obituary: Eugene L. Sharp, 76, of 303 Gary Ave., Lebanon, Pa., died Saturday, June 28, 2008, at his home. He was born January 19, 1932, in Hamlin, a son of the late Lester D. and Emma Wolf Sharpe. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ-Hamlin. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, and served over 20 years in the U.S. Army Reserve, retiring as a first sergeant. He was a heavy equipment mechanic at Indiantown Gap for over 25 years. He enjoyed playing pinochle, and was an avid Sprint Car fan of Lucas Wolf. Surviving are daughter Deborah Sharp of Lebanon; sisters Madelyn, spouse of David Newswanger, and Shirley A., spouse of Paul Krill, both of Myerstown; aunt Irene Moore of Lebanon; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Shirley A. Stohler Sharp, who died July 19, 1996; and sister Geraldine M. Krill. Viewing is scheduled for Wednesday, July 2, 2008, from 10-11 a.m. at Christman's Funeral Home Inc., 226 Cumberland Street, Lebanon, followed by services at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Klopp's Union Cemetery, Hamlin.
