Visitation will be held from 1-3 p.m. Thursday at Pulliam Funeral Home in Robinson. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Hutsonville Cemetery in Hutsonville.
Mr. Rains was born on February 13, 1915, in Hutsonville, the son of Ambrose Dee and Alta (Evans) Rains. On February 12, 1937, he married Vivian J. Moorhead. She survives.
He was a retired independent trucker and Crawford County farmer.
He was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Robinson. He was also a member of AF & AM 250; Robinson Masonic Lodge; Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Danville; Ainad Shrine Temple, Valley of E. St. Louis; Crawford County Shrine Club; and adult Sunday school class at First Christian Church.
Mr. Rains is survived by his wife, Vivian J. Rains, of Olney; son, Joe D. Rains and his wife, Nora, of Sumner; daughter, Rosalee Becker and her husband, Joe, of Boscabel, Wis.; five grandchildren, David Rains and his fianc/e, Nita Wilson, of Dallas, Texas, Jeanna and Brent Ruppel, of Santa Rosa, Calif., Peggy and Jason Kern, of Olney, Kate Rains, of San Diego, Calif., and Lael and Ann Bush, of San Diego, Calif.; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
