Looking Backward--Twenty Years Ago
Nelson J. Bozarth, Civil War veteran, and for many years a practicing attorney in Valparaiso, died last night at his home of heart trouble. He was born at Rochester, Ind., July 14, 1849. At 14 he enlisted in the 138th Indiana Volunteers Infantry. Later he enlisted in Company C Ninth Illinois Calvary. He was wounded in the battle of Nashville. When 15 years of age he received a letter of thanks from President Lincoln for services rendered in the army. He was a graduate of the Valparaiso university and Chicago College of Law.
