Mary E. LeFever, 86, formerly of Harrisburg went to be with her Lord following a brief illness on Monday, June 30, 2008 at Landis Homes Retirement Community, Lititz. Born in Warwick Township she was the daughter of the late John S. and Florence Brubaker Hess. A homemaker, she was the wife of Pastor Harold H. LeFever, and they observed their 55th wedding anniversary in April of 2008. Mary was a faithful and active member of Herr Street Mennonite Church, Harrisburg and assisted in her husband’s ministry there. Mary was a member of the sewing circle and was known for her ministry through cards and letters of encouragement to people throughout the church and community. She enjoyed growing houseplants.

Surviving in addition to her husband are three sons, Dale H. husband of Dorothy Keeport LeFever, of Middletown, David G. LeFever, of Lititz, Alan R. husband of Gwenn Flickenger LeFever, of Manheim, two daughters, Jean M. wife of James A. Miller, of John Day, Oregon, Lois A. wife of Louis H. Martin, of Middletown, eleven grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren, a sister, Arlene Turman, of Mechanicsburg, and a brother, John E. husband of Patsy Hess, of Lititz. Mary was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Rachel LeFever, two sisters, Anna Mae Brubaker, Mabel Lauver, and two brothers, Richard and James Hess.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service at WEST Bethany Chapel, at Landis Homes Retirement Community, 1001 E. Oregon Road, Lititz on Sunday, July 6, 2008 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Edward Zook officiating. Interment will be held in Hernley Mennonite Cemetery, Rapho Township. There will be a public viewing on Thursday evening, July 3, 2008 from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM at the Herr Street Mennonite Church, 1026 Herr Street, Harrisburg. There will be an additional viewing on Saturday evening, July 5, 2008 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the EAST Bethany Chapel, at Landis Homes Retirement Community, Lititz. There will also be a viewing on Sunday afternoon one hour prior to the service at the WEST Bethany Chapel. Please omit flowers.
