He was buried at Laurel Hill, Neshoba Co., MS, across the road from the Presbyterian Church he helped to establish. John moved to Neshoba Co., MS, in 1837-39. John and his wife, Margaret deeded 2 acres of land for the Old Carolina Presbyterian Chuch, on August 15, 1841. John was enumerated in the 1850 & 1860 US Census of Neshoba Co., MS.
