The Burketts are found in the 1860 census of Cannon, Tn. They moved to Texas just after the Civil War. Tennessee was devastated and their way of life was gone.They arrived in Burnet Co. in 1865, because one of the children was born her that year (1870 census). Lavina must have died having this child. By 1970 Jacob was living on the Burnam place with a young wife named Matilda.
