He was a member of the Veteran's of Foreign Wars, Greenview, Springfield Amvets, LaSociete Des 40 Hommes Et 8 Chevauk, Carpenters Local Union 16 and New Berlin American Legion Post 243. He was a veteran of the Korean conflict and was employed by the state of Illinois.
Surviving are two sons, William Eugene Baum of Athens and Douglas Earl Baum of of U.S. Army in Korea; one daughter, Julie Baum of St. Louis, Mo.; mother, Mrs. Ermal Baum of Athens; one brother, Kenneth of Athens; one sister, Linda Ferricks of Athens; two aunts; two step-grandchildren; one niece and three nephews.
