ATHENS MAN, HURT IN MINE, DIES
Ellis Clifford Trumbo, 33, of Athens, died at 4:30 p.m., April 12, 1949, at St. John's hospital where he was taken following injuries received at 11:30 a.m. April 12, 1949 in a slate and rock fall at Peabody mine 57, known as Capitol mine. He suffered back and body injuries and abrasions of body and arms.

Mr. Trumbo was born Jan. 17, 1915 at Greenview.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving four and one-half years in the U.S. Coast Guard during the war.

He was a member of the Athens Christian church.

Surviving are his wife, Edith; father, Ellis Trumbo, of Greenview; mother, Margaretta Trumbo, of Springfield; two sisters, Mrs. Verona Tobias, of Athens; and Mrs. Rowena Bless, of Greenview.

Remains were at Mott & Son funeral home, Athens where services were held.

Burial was in Elmwood cemetery, Greenview.
