John Morgan Caldwell, 98, of Newbern, died Thursday, June 26, 2008 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.
He was a farmer and retired supervisor for the ASCS office, and a member of Newbern First United Methodist Church, where he served on the administrative board, was a trustee and a member of the men's Bible class.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home with the Rev. Gus Lohrum officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Newbern.
The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Lena Mae Rudolph Caldwell of Newbern; four daughters, Cathy Bailey and husband, Charles, of Paris, Tenn., Joyce Madden and husband, Thomas J., of Orlando, Fla., Ann Shankle and husband, Nelson, of Nashville, and Carol Smith of Franklin; a sister, Irene Flack of Newbern; a brother, Charles Caldwell of Newbern; seven grandchildren, Suzanne Dawson, David Madden, Don Smith, Ken Smith, John Shankle, Steven Shankle and Cliff Bailey; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Walker Caldwell and Jane Wright Caldwell; two sisters, Odom Marie Berry and Lorene Johnson; three brothers, Harold Caldwell, Hurdle Caldwell and Wilburn Caldwell; a grandson, Mark Smith; and a great-granddaughter.
Pallbearers will be David Madden, Don Smith, Ken Smith, John Shankle, Steven Shankle and Cliff Bailey. Honorary pallbearers will be John Dodds, Mike Ladd, Guyve Thomas and Russell Hilliard.
The family requests that any memorials be directed to Newbern First United Methodist Church, 103 West Main St., Newbern, TN 38059, or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Odom Marie "Grannie Re" Berry, 85, of Newbern, died Monday, Jan. 26, 2004 at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis.
She was a member of Newbern First United Methodist Church.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Newbern First United Methodist church with the Rev. Tommy Jowers and Dr. David Comperry officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include three daughters, Joan Hadden of Dyersburg, Joy O'Neal of Alamo and Janis "Jan" Stiles of Osceola, Ark.; four sons, John Berry and Jim Berry, both of Newbern, Bob Berry of Dyersburg and Joe Berry of Cordova; two sisters, Irene Flack of Newbern and Lorene Johnson of Troy; two brothers, Charles Caldwell and Morgan Caldwell, both of Newbern; 23 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert E. "Gene" Berry; two sons, Billy Gene Berry and Jerry Clyde "Knuck" Berry; her parents, Robert Walker Caldwell and Jane Wright Caldwell; and three brothers, Wilbur Caldwell, Harold Caldwell and Hurdle Caldwell.
Pallbearers will be Jim Berry, Bob Berry, John Berry, Joe Berry, Bill Hadden and Ernest O'Neal.
