Lila Isabelle Rhoades-Ackles is the daughter of Richard Alvin Rhoades and Yerrina Frances Garrett. She married Stephen D. Ackles 9 July 1891 in Milan, Sullivan Co. MO. They had 13 children with 10 of them living to adulthood. Helen Marie was born in 1912 and died in 1912, Un-named female twin born 1913 died 1913, Doris was born in 1916 and died in 1917. I think the first 2 were stillborn and the last one (Doris) died of pneumonia. There is a twin in all of this James Richard Ackles was the twin to the one born in 1913, he survived and lived a long life. James is buried in California in the Napa area.
After living in Sullivan Co. MO for some time Stephen and Lila moved to Idaho for a little while, then to Washington in Palouse Twp. There he worked for the Potlatch Co. which was a lumber company. Lila was always a housewife during the census times so she never worked outside the household. Then in about 1911 they moved to Spokane, WA and Lila had the last four children here in Spokane, WA. In about 1918-1920 they moved to the Seattle area to follow their son Estus when he went into the Merchant Marines. They lived on Brandon St and also on Graham St. until they died in 1955 and 1958 (Stephen went first) then Lila Isabelle died in a car crash that fractured her skull and she died in Snohomish Co. WA.
Mrs. Stephen Ackles Funeral
Funeral services for Mrs. Isabel Ackles, 82, will be held Thursday at Columbia Funeral Home. Interment will be in Greenwood. Mrs. Ackles was killed in an automobile accident near North Bend. She came here in 1922 from Spokane. She was born in Mason, Il. She was a widow of Stephen Ackles, a veteran lumberman. Mrs. Ackles was a member of the Findlay Street Christian Church. Surviving are four sons, James R., Seattle; Bruce E., Kinston, NC; Millard C., Stanfield, AZ; and Louis C. Ackles, Chignic, Alaska; four daughters Mrs. Verna V. Cape, Renton; Mrs. Edith Clift, Marysville; Mrs. Mamie Shirley, Richmond, CA and Mrs. Mary L. Bullock, Dallas, TX; 13 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

Some of this information on the obituary is wrong, but at least Ann Mclary found this information for me as I couldn't find anything on them. For one Bruce wasn't in Kinston, NC he was in fact in Red Fields, SD. when this took place and brother Lewis Clark or "Pete" was spending a stent in Walla Walla prison for drug fraud. He had been hurt in the military and they sent him home addicted to morphine. Their fault not his! For not getting our young men off of their pain meds before sending them home first. Edith and her husband Frank lived in Arlington, not Marysville, both are buried at the Arlington Cemetery in Arlington, Snohomish Co. WA.
