Bridget Lisle Hoar's mother was 2nd wife to Sir John Lisle, and her name was Alice (Alicia) Beconsaw, born Sep 1617 died (beheaded) 2 Sep 1685. Sir John Lisle's 1st wife was Mary Elizabeth Hobart, died 15 Mar 1633 4 days after giving birth to a son, who died in infancy. Sir John Lisle was also known as the Regicide, in charge of sentencing King Charles I to death in Jan 1649. Sir John escaped to Switzerland just before 15 May 1660 (when all the ports in England were closed) and was assassinated 11 Aug 1664 in Lausanne. Bridget's mother, Lady Alice, was arrested for giving shelter to three men who supported the Duke of Monmouth, making her a traitor also. A mock trial headed by Judge Jeffreys found her guilty and sentenced her to burning alive, but that was commuted by James II to beheading, due to her station in life.
