AGED LADY PASSES AWAY
Mrs. John Vail Loved for 65 Years
Mrs. John Vail, a resident of Cordova, for over 65 years, passed away at the home of her son, Edward Vail of Waterville, Sunday, June 10th, at 8:15 P. M. Her age was 84 years, nine months.
Lydia Repp was born September 10, 1860, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Repp in Peru, Indiana.
She came to Cordova, Minnesota, when a girl of eighteen. On December 24, 1878* she was united in marriage to John Vail of Cordova.
To this union were born three children, Mrs. Steve Hunt of Foley, Minn., Edward of Cordova, and Milton of Cordova, who preceded her in death five years ago.
A few years after her husband's death she went to Clear Lake, Wis. to care for an invalid sister until her death.
About two years ago her health failed and she was taken to her daughter, Mrs. Steve Hunt of Foley, where she lived until she came to Waterville April 1st to visit her son, Edward. She had a stroke Memorial Day, from which she never recovered.
She was a dear mother whose life centered upon her family, she was a kind neighbor and a good friend, who was always ready to help others. She was a devout member of the Episcopal church of Cordova.
Her husband preceded her in death October 1st, 1924.
Besides her three children, seven grandchildren survive, one of whom is in the armed service; also 14 great-grandchildren, one of whom is also in the armed service. Also survived by a brother, Jacob Repp of Clear Lake, Wis., and one sister, Mrs. Busby of Pittman, New Jersey.
Many friends and relatives attended the wake held at Worlein's Chapel. Funeral services were held at the United Brethren church at Cordova, Wednesday afternoon, June 13th, Rev. F. Orlo Hoy of St. Andrews Episcopal church of Waterville, officiating. Mrs. Hgo (sic) Antl, and the Misses Elaine Severson and Lila Beese of the Methodist church furnishing the music.
Interment was at Lake Gorman cemetery, Cordova. The pallbearers were Lawrence, Roy, Johnnie and W. J. McMillen, Art Burnett and Mark Sheehy.
