AGNER, James E. Age 91 went home to heaven, Saturday June 28, 2008, from his residence at McKnight Terrace, Middletown, Ohio. He was born February 15, 1917 in Ottawa, Ohio. He was the son of Jason S. and Lucille (Post) Agner. Proudly serving his country during World War II in the Army with the 29th Division - 115th Regiment - 2nd Battalion, he participated in the landing on Omaha Beach, France. He achieved the rank of 1st Lieutenant, and was in charge of radio communications. After being wounded in France he received an honorable discharge. James was recipient of the Bronze Star - Combat Infantryman Badge - and the Purple Heart. After his discharge, he worked as manager of G.C. Murphy, then was employed as Civilian Technical Operations Manager at Defense Electric Supply Center, Wright Patterson, Dayton, Ohio. James was a long-time faithful member of Grace Baptist Church where he served as Deacon and was involved in the Choir Ministry and Golf League. James was preceded in death by his parents Jason S. and Lucille Agner, step-mother Mildred Agner, sister Betty Gribler, wife Patricia and son Jim. He is survived by his daughters Stephanie (Travis) James of Hamilton, and Vallerie (Dan) Bussell of Trenton, 5 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Officiating will be Reverend Max Fernandez and Patrick Russell (grandson). Interment will be at the Grace Memorial Gardens at the church.Thank you to Vitas-Hospice and dad's special "family" of caregivers at McKnight Terrace.
