Harvey married Dolores Brand on June 21, 1942. Harvey and Dolores had three beautiful daughters, Louise, LuEllen, and Lucille. They were blessed with eight grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. Harvey had a great love for the outdoors. He loved the ranch life and taking care of his animals; he had a special soft spot in his heart for his geese. Harvey also had a great passion for hunting, fishing, camping, and square dancing. Harvey worked on the family ranch all of his life. He began working for the Monte Vista School District in 1970 until he retired at age 62. Harvey enjoyed working at the school and had many fond memories of the children he got to know and love in his many years there.
Harvey is survived by his loving wife, Dolores, of the family home; daughters, Louise (Alex) Colville, of Del Norte, Colo, LuEllen (Duane) Essary, of Yoder, Colo. and Lucille (Richard) Tubbs, of Alamosa, Colo; eight grandchildren, Kristi Powell, Toni Reynolds, Travis, Gary and Brandon Coffey, Phillip Lopez, along with sixteen great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Gladys; one sister, Geraldine, and two grandsons, John and Matthew Lopez.
A memorial service to honor and celebrated his life was held at the First Presbyterian Church on Mon, Nov. 5, 2007, at 11 am. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or Hospice del Valle, in care of Strohmayer's Funeral Home. Arrangements were made under the direction of Strohmayer's Funeral Home of Monte Vista.
