Brown County native, Russell McKinney died Thursday, July 10, 2003 at Columbus Regional Hospital. A resident of Columbus, he was 88.

Mr. McKinney was born May 29, 1915. He was the son of Charles Oscar and Mary Manuel McKinney. They preceded him in death.

He married Burnice Marlett November 23, 1936. She preceded him in death on June 12, 1995.

Mr. McKinney was a retired well-known auctioneer, real estate broker and farmer. He was a member of Walker Chapel.

Survivors include: a son, Charles Coburn McKinney of Marble Falls, Texas; grandchildren, Teresa Ranah Martin and Cobette and Sherri McKinney, all of Texas; sisters, Jean Boas of Florida and Alberta Hendrickson and Martha Baker, both of Columbus; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Francis, Carl, Weldon and Howard McKinney; a half brother, Ralph Lawless; and sisters, Edna McKinney and Elizabeth Perry.

A service was held Saturday, July 12, at Barkes, Inlow &Weaver Funeral Home in Columbus with the Reverend Roy Hendershot, Jr. officiating.

Burial was at McKinney Cemetery in Brown County.

Russell McKinney, 88, of Road 100W died at 5:43 a.m. Thursday, July 10, 2003, at Columbus Regional Hospital.

Mr. McKinney was a retired well-known auctioneer, real estate broker and farmer and was a member of Walker Chapel.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Barkes, Inlow & Weaver Funeral Home on Washington Street with the Rev. Roy Hendershot Jr. officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from noon until service time Saturday. Burial will be at McKinney Cemetery in Brown County.

Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association or American Diabetes Association.

Burial was at McKinney Cemetery in Brown County. Pallbearers were Bob Perry, Allen Hendrickson, Russell Meek, Rex Perry, Steve Baker and Greg Boas. Honorary pallbearers were Martha Baker, Jean Boas and Bertie Hendrickson.
