Gilbert T. McKinlay, age 90, of Idaho Falls, died Saturday, March 22, 2008 at his home. He was born February 3, 1918 at Teton City, a son of James Wausen McKinlay and Dorcas Josephine Meservy McKinlay.
He served in the US Army achieving the Rank of Corporal and earned the Expert Rifle M-1. January 14, 1941, he married Emma Elanor Nielsen in the Logan LDS Temple. She preceded him in death January 19, 2003. He then married Wanda Ard Jeppesen, March, 2005.
Gilbert was an Elementary School Teacher, Principal, and a School Psychologist. He was an active member of the LDS church and served four Missions, including a mission to the Northwestern States Mission where he was a President of the Oregon District. He was Rexburg City Clerk for two years and Madison County Clerk for twelve years. Gilbert loved life and enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda McKinlay, of Rexburg, a son,two sisters,and four grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Emma and six brothers and sisters.
