Son of the late John F. Baum and Olive M. Green Baum, he married Lou Ella Ensminger in June, 1952. She died in 1962. He married Mary Alice Fields in 1964. He worked at Waldon, Fairview High School and Chamberlain Middle School. He was a member of the Fairview Church of the Nazarene. He was survived by his wife, Mary Alice Baum; three daughters, Elaine Caraway, Calleen Davis and Linda Estep; two sons, Garen and Byron Baum; two sisters, Letha Kirk and Doreen Whitney; nine grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and an extended family of relatives. His funeral was officiated by The Rev. Charles McKinney at the Fairview Church of the Nazarene.
