Dean A. Bancroft
KINGSVILLE - Dean A. Bancroft, 83, of North Wright Street died Sunday, Jun 30, 2002, at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland.
Mr. Bancroft was born March 11, 1919, in Gageville, the son of Otis and Margaret (Weaver) Bancroft and was a lifetime area resident.
He served in the Army during World War II in the 99th Second Ordinance.
He was employed with War Products, Item Fiber and retired in 1978 from the True Temper Plant in Saybrook Township.
Mr. Bancroft was a member of Orion Lodge 353 F&AM of Kingsville and the Lake Erie Boat Club. For more than 50 years, he was a member of the Ashtabula VFW Post #943.
He enjoyed fishing and auto and go-cart racing.
Survivors include his wife, Vivian (Lillie) Bancroft, whom he married June 15, 1946; son Duane Bancroft of North Kingsville; daughter Marla Williams of Conneaut; eight grandchildren, Shawn, Dan, Ryan, Chad, Marie, Pamela, Kristi and Lesley; and eight great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Otis Bancroft Jr. of Ashtabula and Robert Bancroft of Geneva.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Arlo Bancroft; and three sisters, Wanda Doman, Clara Wilkinson and Gladys Hakulinen.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Ross-Billman Funeral Home, 526 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula, with the Rev. Kenneth Williams of the Gageville United Methodist Church officiating.
Burial will be in Gageville Township Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Gageville United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
