Son of Samuel and Martha (Birchett) Marks, he married 1) Sarah Tanner "Sallie" Bevill on 23 Oct 1834. They were the parents of Louis Leoferick Marks. He married 2) Elizabeth Carter, Petersburg marriage bond dated 9 Feb 1842. He invented, and on 14 Jan 1868, patented "a new and improved mode of constructing mill shapes or moulds for manufacturing tobacco."
