Mr. Richard F. May, 79, of Covington, Georgia, died Tuesday, November 2, 2004 at Portsbridge Hospice in Georgia.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Saturday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Ricky Clay officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4 – 8p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Conyers Church of Christ Memorial Fund, 1410 Flat Shoals Road, Conyers, Georgia, 30012. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com.

The Giles County native was the son of the late Albert Cleveland May and Rose Etta Garrett May. He attended Maury County schools. Mr. May had been a resident of Covington, Georgia for over forty years. He was employed with the garment industry for 56 years and retired from Pacific Uniform Company in Conyers, Georgia in 1993. He was a member of Conyers Church of Christ. He was an avid football fan, enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening and enjoyed fellowship with his friends and family.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-five years Margaret Hyatt May of Covington, Georgia; daughter, Deleda May (Jimmy) Wilkins of Conyers, Georgia; three grandchildren, Margaret Michelle (Shelly) Wilkins, Julie Wilkins Austin, Tiffany Jane Wilkins; two nephews, Carl W. (Wanda) May, Al May of Columbia; and three nieces, Carlene (John) Price, Wilma (Bill) Johnston both of Columbia and Cheryl (Jimmy) Shelton of Rogersville, Alabama.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Wilson May, Douglas May, C.F. May and R.C. May and one sister, Geneva May Hamlett.
