Economist. In 2007 he shared the Nobel Prize for Economics with two other Americans; at age 90, he was the oldest person ever to receive the award. A Professor of Emeritus at the University of Minnesota, he also received the National Medal of Science in Behavorial and Social Science, presented to him by President George H. W. Bush in 1990.
