During the Easter season on May 12, at 11:15 a.m. our Lord called sister m. Ludmilla to her eternal home. Sister M. Ludmilla, Herminia Valdez was born in Gallup, New Mexico USA. She entered the convent on December 12, 1921 and received the Franciscan habit on June 29, 1922. Sister Ludmilla served her actime years in the educational apostolate in various schools of both provinces. She was a teacher on the elementary , secondary and college level in various schools in Indiana, Illinois, Tennessee, Louisiana and Kansas. Also she, was gentle and loving toward her students and those she came in contact. As superior she served the Sisters in loving service. Her last teaching assignment was at Luers High Shool Fort Wayne Indiana. In 1970 Sister worked in medical records at Terre haute, Indiana and from 1975 to 1981 as saristan at St Francis Hospital, Beech Grove, Indiana. August, 1981 she came to St. Francis Convent, Mishawaka where she assisted with vaious duties. Sister had a quiet sense of humor and she enjoyed doing various acts of kindness fro the Sisters. In august, 1989 Sister went to Our Lady of Angels where she spent the evening of her life in many hours of prayer as well as doing whatever she could. Her health gradually declined the past year. The cause of her death was conjestive heart failure. The Eucharistic Savrifice will be offered for Sister M. Ludmilla on Saturday, May 15 at 10:30 a.m. after which she will be laid to rest in our cemetery. Mishawaka, Indiana May 12, 1993.
