Mr. Adams was a native of Columbia, S.C. and was a son of the late James Belton and Etta Stitt Adams.
Mr. Adams was a retired mail carrier with the United States Postal Service. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II. He was a member of East Asheville United Methodist Church.
Mr. Adams is survived by his wife, Ruth Gresham Adams; daughters, Lynn Logan, Karen Hawkins and husband, Don, and Roxanne Davis and husband, Don, all of Asheville; son, Gary Adams and wife, Beverly, of Charlotte; step-daughter, Sandra Davis, of Fairview; step-son, George Digges, of Marion; thirteen grandchildren; and eleven greatgrandchildren.
