Mr. Harvey James Derbonne, age 85, of Winnfield, passed away Friday, January 11, 2008, at the Winnfield Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Winnfield.

Mr. Derbonne was retired as a master sergeant from the United States Air Force and was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. He served his country during Korean War. Mr. Derbonne was a native of Derry and was also retired from Willamette Industries. He was a kind and gentle man. Mr. Derbonne always had a smile for everyone. He loved his family and his church. He will be missed by so many.

He was the son of the late John J. Derbonne and the late Maria (LaCaze) Derbonne. Mr. Derbonne was also preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Derbonne; four sisters; and three brothers.

He is survived by his two daughters, Sherrie Rhodes and husband Steve of Winnfield, Barbara Derbonne of Ormond, Florida; three sons, Ronnie Derbonne and wife Carolyn of Shreveport, Jim Derbonne and wife Pat of St. Francisville, Don Derbonne of St. Francisville; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews.

Services are under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield, where the family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, January 12, 2008 and from noon to service time Sunday, January 13, 2008. Funeral services will be at Southern Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Sunday. Interment will be at the Garden Of Memories Cemetery in Winnfield.

C. A. Cardino, Chris Rhodes, Bruce Mitchell, Joseph Derbonne, Brian Shankle, and Steve Rhodes will serve as pallbearers.
