From his daughters obit in the Lebo Star 26 Jul 1918:
He came to Ohio from Virginia, was of Scotch-Irish decent and he served 6 years in the French & Indian Wars and in the War of 1812. Soon after the war he married Hannah Friend, an English girl and settled on a homestead in Gallia county.
