He died at his home. Bill and his twin, Willie, were born on Oct. 13, 1927 to Andy and Emma (Pack) Campbell at Barber.
Bill went to Sequoyah Indian Orphanage when he was 11 or 12 years old. All of his brothers and sisters, except Willie, attended Sequoyah at some period during the 1940s.
Bill enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a teenager. After the war, he returned to Sequoyah and later enlisted in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the 82nd Airborne Division during the Korean War. Bill retired after 20 years of military service in 1967.
He moved back Tahlequah and worked at Sequoyah High School for 10 years in the maintenance department.
Bill loved his family, his country, playing golf, silver smithing and watching sports on television.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Nellie, brothers, Dave, George, and his twin, Willie.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Imogene; his two children; two grandsons, and their mother. He also leaves a brother and his wife; two sisters; along with his favorite sister-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, June 9, 2008, at Reed Culver Chapel.
Burial will follow at Fort Gibson National Cemetery at 1 p.m. Military honors will be provided by personnel from Fort Sill Army base.
