John W. Barkhimer, 68, of Columbus died at 5:15 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2008, at Four Seasons Health Care Center.
Mr. Barkhimer retired from Cummins Engine Co. He was a member of St. John's Masonic Lodge and East Columbus Christian Church.
A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at Garland Brook Cemetery with the Rev. Mitchell J. Coggin officiating. Calling will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th Street.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Born in Louisville, Ky., April 5, 1940, Mr. Barkhimer was the son of Paul W. and Doneta M. Brown Barkhimer.
He is survived by his mother, of Columbus; a son, Craig E. (Victoria) Barkhimer of Columbus; a daughter, Amy E. (William) Morris of Campbellsville, Ky.; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father.
