Spc. Megan Touma of Cold Springs, Kentucky attended Campbell County High School where she was a cheerleader and ran cross country. The avid runner came from a military family, both parents and several siblings have served their country. Megan joined the Army in July 2003 having served in Bavaria, Bamberg, Germany, and Fort Drum, New York. She arrived at Fort Bragg's 19th Replacement Company on June 12, 2008. Megan was a dental specialist and completed Basic Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, Advanced Individual Training at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. She also completed the Combat Life Saver course. Her awards and decorations include the Army Achievement Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Army Service Ribbon. Megan died at age 23. She had arrived at Fort Bragg less than two weeks before after spending three years assigned to the Army Dental Activity Clinic Bavaria in Bamberg, Germany. Megan was the victim of homicide. She was found dead in a hotel room and was seven months pregnant with her first child. A private family service was held in Kansas.
