SPLENDID MAN PASSES TO REWARD

After an illness extending over several years, Dr. J. J. Adams passed away at his home on Maple Driveway Wednesday afternoon at one o’clock.

Dr. Adams was a native of Barren county, but for many years was a resident of Munfordville where he successfully practiced his profession. Returning here and retiring from the practice of medicine when his health failed, but was still able to look after his business interest and farm near Bruce, where he spent most of his time.

Dr. Adams was a member of the Masonic fraternity and a devout member of the Presbyterian church and was active in all fraternal, religious and civic improvements as long as he was active and was held in the highest esteem by all who knew him.

As a friend he had no superior, as citizen he was without an equal. There are many citizens here and his former home who feel their indebtedness to this man for past favors and charitable donations. During his stay in Hart county he possibly did more charity practice than any physician who ever lived in that county. It was never a question of money when he was called, but a call to relieve humanity and weather conditions never interferred [sic] with what he considered his duty to help the sick.

Dr. Adams is survived by his wife, Mrs. Amy Compton Adams, two daughters, Mrs. R. L. Lessenberry, Glasgow; Mrs. Harold Harpst, Fordsville, Ky.; one son, Mr. William Adams of Glasgow; three brothers, S. Q. Adams, Glasgow route 7; Dr. Noah Adams, Kansas City, Mo., and Charles Adams, Dallas Texas.

Funeral services will be conducted from the Presbyterian church Friday morning at ten o’clock, conducted by Rev. B. A. Sykes, the pastor and burial will follow in the Glasgow cemetery.
