Ellis was born to John and Effie (Turk) Miller. On April 8, 1942, he married the former Ella Ilene Moore. He farmed for many years and also was a milk hauler and enjoyed his carpentry projects. In later years he worked for the University of Wisconsin in maintenance. Survivors include his wife, Ella Ilene Miller of Richland Center; eight children, LeRoy (Stormie) Miller of Plover, Ron (Mary) Miller of Barneveld, Raymond (Shirley) Miller of Sun Prairie, Janet (Ken) Martinson of Loganville, Judi (Marc) Shapiro of Janesville, Gary Miller of Redwing, Minn., Larry (Joyce) Miller of Adams and Linda (Ron) Hanson of Janesville; 22 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.
