Donald E. Allen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carroll V. Allen, was born in La Crosse, Sept. 3, 1928. He graduated from Janesville high school in 1946 where he won letters three seasons in football and in 1946 was lineman on the South squad for the first annual Wisconsin All- Star high school grid games. While in high school Allen was a cabinet representative his sophomore year and participated in
track and was a member of the glee club. He enlisted in September, 1946 and went to Japan, January 8, 1947, returning to San Francisco, California on December 23, 1947. He received his discharge January 3, 1948. Donald was killed in an automobile accident east of Stoughton Wisconsin. His friend John C. Gage was also killed in the accident. John is buried in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Donald was to have been the best man at his brother Wayne's wedding the following week.
