Gustave Adolph Emanuelson, 98, a retired farmer-rancher, died of natural causes Thursday June 19, 2008 at a Malta care home.

Survivors include his brother, Carl (Lois) Emanuelson of Chewelah, Wash., a sister, Sara Bryant of Fort Peck; sister-in-law Margaret "Beanie" of Great Falls; three nephews, three nieces and cousins from Sweden.

Gus was born in Chicago on July 23, 1909, to Henning and Ada Emanuelson. He was the oldest of six children. He came to Montana with his parents to the homestead near Saco in 1912. Gus attended school at Bowdoin.

He worked at Fort Peck Dam in the 1930s. He went back to the farm and lived there until 2003. He then moved to the Country Home, where he spent the remainder of his life.

Gus enjoyed fishing, cookies, his dogs, playing the accordion, having company and visiting. The highlight of his life was going to Sweden. His brothers and sisters remember how kind he was to them when they were growing up. We will all miss you, big brother. We loved you so.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Harold and Verner and his sister, Dorothy.

Burial will be in the Malta City Cemetery.
