George Dambach, 90, of Evergreen Nursing Center, Harmony, formerly of Portersville, died in Passavant North Hills Hospital.

Parents: Harvey O. Sr. and Phyllis Creese Dambach. His father died in 1980. His mother died in 1976.

Wife: Chloy Aiken, married on June 23, 1942. She died March 9, 2005.

He retired from Ellwood City Forge Corp. in 1980 after 39 years of service as a lathe operator. He served in the Army 317th Infantry and was a staff sergeant, earning an oak leaf cluster, Bronze Star Medal and Purple Heart for being wounded in France on Nov. 11, 1944. He enjoyed hunting. He was a member of Calvin Presbyterian Church, Ellwood City, where he was a deacon and member of the M and M Sunday School Class.

Relatives: two daughters, Elaine Brownstein of Pittsburgh and Audrey Hinkle of Portersville; a son, Glen Dambach of New Castle; a brother, Dean R. Dambach of New Castle; four sisters, Bessie Greenawalt of Butler, Lillian Weller of DeLand, Fla., Clysta Hollinback of Harmony and Loma Walczak of Pittsburgh; and four grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harvey Dambach Sr. and Elmer Dambach; and two sisters, Mildred Kennedy and Dorothy Hasbach.
