Doak, William H., BORN: 10 Aug 1836, DIED: 11 Oct 1878, CEMETERY: Doak, NOTES: CLARKSVILLE NEWS Thursday 1 Jun 1899, from microfilm in the Clarksville Library, Reel 2002-1: COMPANY E -- The men who composed this company were the first to respond from Red River County to the South's call to arms. It was organized as an infantry, in April, 1861, almost before Sumpter's guns had ceased to reverbrate. The muster roll, as well I can remember, had upon it the following names, but there are some that I cannot now recall, Billy Doak died here (more), From the PRIVATE DIARY OF W. M. BOWERS beginning 1872: 13 Oct 1878 -- Bill Doake died on Oct. 13th on Sunday about 12 o'clock with yellow jaundice in its worst form, MARRIAGE: William H. Doak married Lenora Adams on 24 Jul 1867 in RRCo TX Book B page 158. From Civil War Veterans buried or dying in Red River County, Texas by Lawrence and Sue Dale.
