Greenview, Feb. 28. - Mrs. Thomas Andree received a message Monday from the war department informing her that her brother, Pfc. Jack T. Allen, was killed in action on Feb. 9, 1945, in Germany.

He entered services in May, 1942, and was sent overseas in January, 1944.

He was wounded on Dec. 12, 1944 and had been back in action only five days when he was killed. He was with the First army.

Pfc. Allen was a graduate of the Springfield High school, class of 1935.

After his graduation, he was employed at Alvey's cigar store, and he lived five years in Washington, D.C., before entering the service.

Pfc. Allen is survived by his mother, Mrs. Thomas Carter, of Manteno; his sister, Mrs. Andree, of Greenview; his father, E.V. Allen, of Springfield; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Montgomery, of Greenview; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Graveside services will be held following arrival of the body at Elmwood cemetery, Greenview, Dr. S.P. Taylor officiating,

The Lawrence-Rayborn post 116 in charge of military rites.
