Frances Carr Norbury, 81, of Jacksonville died Saturday, June 21, 2008 at St. John's Hospital in Springfield. She was born August 28, 1926 in Greenbrier, AR; the daughter of John Robert and Dosha Lowry Carr. She married Dr. Frank Barnes Norbury on August 30, 1949 in Gulfport, MS and he survives.

She is also survived by three children, Ellen Norbury Staton (husband, Gary) of Aurora, CO, Bob Norbury of Scottsdale, AZ, and Lisa Norbury Kilian (husband, Mark) of Clive, IA; five grandchildren, Laura Staton, Daniel Staton, Matthew Kilian, Julia Carol Kilian, and Adam Norbury; and several other relatives. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Carol Cay Norbury; her parents; a brother, Robert Carr; and a sister, Jean Ferguson.

Mrs. Norbury graduated from Pine Bluff, AR High School and was a 1947 graduate of Washington University School of Nursing in St. Louis. She was a member of the Cadet Nursing Program during WW II. She practiced as a registered nurse at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Touro Infirmary in New Orleans, Veterans Administration Hospital in Gulfport, MS, Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY, Our Saviour's Hospital in Jacksonville, and assisted with her husband's medical practice in Jacksonville. A supporter of the arts, she was a member and former treasurer of the Art Association of Jacksonville. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Passavant Hospital Auxiliary, and a former member of Sorosis Literary Society. She served many years as an election judge and a board member for Pathway School. She contributed her nursing talents as a camp nurse for the Girl Scouts of America. In her spare time, she enjoyed tennis, gardening, reading, shelling at Sanibel Island in Florida, and spending time with her family.

Services were entrusted to Buchanan and Cody Funeral Home of Jacksonville, Illinois.
