Robert George Zielinski, son of George Lewis and Dorothy (Petrowski) Zielinski, was born February 11, 1938, in Chicago, Illinois, and passed away Saturday, October 18, 1997, in Superior, Nebraska, at the age of 59 years, 8 months, and 7 days.

After graduation, he was inducted into the United State Air Force on January 5, 1956, at Barksdale Air Force Base in Shreveport, Louisiana, and was honorably discharged after more than 22 years of service on December 31, 1978, at Luke Air Force Base in Arizona, having served during the Korean Conflict during high school and the Viet Nam War. During his active duty, he served as a parachutist, administration clerk, and a steno specialist. He received several commendations.

January 17, 1957, he was married to Joan Troudt. The union was blessed with three daughters, Lori, Kimberly and Bobbie.

While in the service, they lived in several states and countries including: California, Wyoming, Indiana, Louisiana, Nebraska, Greenland, North Carolina, France, Germany, Colorado, Viet Nam, Maryland, Turkey and Arizona.

Bob enjoyed fishing, bowling and playing baseball. His family was very important to him especially the grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Joan of Superior, Nebraska; three daughters, Lori Flick and her husband Tom of Exton, Pennsylvania, Kimberly Chambers and her husband Tom of Jackson, Mississippi, and Bobbie Randolph and her husband Bill III of Peoria, Arizona; seven grandchildren, Christopher, Adele and Joseph Flick, Christian and Daniel Chambers and Billy and Kevin Rudolph; one sister, Brenda Zielinski of Kankakee, Illinois; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 21, 1997, at 2 p.m. from Megrue-Price Funeral Home Chapel in Superior, Nebraska, with Rev. Joan Gaines officiating. Music was "Jesus Paid It All" sung by grandson, Christian Chambers, "Amazing Grace", a congregational hymn, "Ava Maria", a violin solo by Pat McCord and "Love Can Build A Bridge", a tape by The Judds. Donna Cox was organist and accompanist. Pallbearers were Bill Rudolph, Tom Flick, Tom Chambers, Matt Sullivan, Scott Sullivan, Brad Swanson and Terry Kizzar. Interment was in Nelson Cemetery with full military rites given by Superior American Legion and VFW Posts. Megrue-Price Funeral Home of Superior was in charge of the arrangements.
