Roy Zeigler, 80, a retired farmer from Nelson, died Thursday at the Mary Lanning Hospital. Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the Methodist Church in Nelson with the Rev. Paul Samuelson officiating. Burial will be in the Nelson Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Nellie; three daughters, Delores White of Denver Colo., Mrs. Bob (JoAnn) Stepanek of DuBois and Shirley Zeigler of Nelson; one son, Bob of Superior; one sister, Anise Sansome of Guide Rock; two brothers, Floyd of Superior and Ivan of Denver, Colo.; ten grand-children and four great-grandchildren.

Klawitter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Roy Dudley Zeigler, one of seven children of Alvin and Mary Thompson Zeigler, was born January 19, 1903, near Oak, Nebraska. He departed this life on March 10, 1983, at Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings at the age of 80 years, 1 month and 19 days.

He was raised in the Guide Rock area and was educated in the Guide Rock Public Schools.

November 28, 1928, Roy was united in marriage to Nellie Thorpe. To this union three daughters and one son were born.

Roy and Nellie farmed in the Oak, Edgar and Angus areas. In 1949 they purchased a farm south of Nelson, where he farmed until 1963, when they moved into Nelson. Roy worked for the Nuckolls County Road Department until 1968, when he retired.

Roy loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and caring for his many flowers.

Preceding him in death were his parents, brothers, Mervin, Francis and Byron, one granddaughter, Tricia Zeigler and three great grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Nellie; three daughters, Dolores White of Denver, Colorado, JoAnn Stepanek of DuBois and Shirley Zeigler of Nelson; one son, Bob of Superior; two brothers, Floyd of Superior and Ivan of Denver, Colorado; one sister, Mrs. Raymond (Anise) Sansom of Guide Rock; three granddaughters, Christie Steenbarger, Juliene Zeigler and Jeanine Kintigh; seven grandsons, Steven and Craig Nordbrock, Don and Scott Stasenka, Greg Bohling, Mike Wormstadt and Bryan Zeigler; and four great grandchildren, Jason and Jeffery Steenbarger, Jason Kintigh and Christopher Norbrock.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 14, at 2 p.m. from the United Methodist Church in Nelson, with Rev. Paul Samuelson officiating. Burial was in the Nelson Cemetery. Klawitter Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Casketbearers were Rodney Zeigler, Roger Zeigler, Gene Holsteen, Wayne Garrison, Earl Adamson and Bill Wehrman, Jr.
