BANNER JACKSON GUNTER LAID TO REST
Nahunta, Ga., Dec. 4, 1936. Mr. Banner Jackson Gunter died at his home in Brantley County Saturday, November 28, 1936, at 7:45 p.m. Mr. Gunter had been in ill health about five years.
Thus his death was expected, it was a great shock to his family and many friends. Having been born in Pierce County, November 25, 1866, and lived in this county all his life, since the formation of Brantley County from a part of Pierce County.
All his life Mr. Gunter has been a faithful believer in the primitive Baptist Church but did not join that church until about five years ago, farming has always been his occupation. Always looking after the welfare of his family and the church, and doing deeds of kindness bas been his life's work.
He was held high in esteem by his friends and this was shown at the funeral services which were held Sunday afternoon at High Bluff church in Brantley County at three o'clock, one of the largest crowds to ever attend a funeral gathered to witness the last rites for Mr. Gunter. Reg. G. H. Fowler of Blackshear officiated. Mr. was the father of Mr. J. Allen Gunter a valued employee of Mr. L. E. Sweat of Blackshear.
Surviving Mr. Gunter are four daughters and four sons: Mrs. Ava Howell, Mrs. Nolie Crews, Misses Alma and Inez Gunter of Hoboken; Messrs J. Allen Gunter, Blackshear, and Messrs. LM, L.A., and Willie Gunter of Hoboken.
