Frank was born in Fox Lake, Wisconsin. After moving to Minneapolis as a young man with his family, he entered the long-time family business of meat cutting and at one time went into business partnership with his father. That first business failed during the Panic of '93 (gold v silver standard controversy). Frank then opened the "Lakeview Meat and Vegetable Market" at Lake and Hennepin in Minneapolis. That business was a success. During this period he married Pauline Arndt (1895) and built a house at 4419 Blaisdell Avenue in south Minneapolis (still stands). Frank and Pauline had two children survive to adulthood, Hazel (b. 1899) and George (b. 1904). Frank, soon after building and moving into his new house, moved his thriving butcher business to nearby 42nd St. and Nicollet Ave. Frank died of tuberculosis (a common disease among meat cutters) at the Glen Lake Sanitorium in what is now Minnetonka, MN.
