Lt. John Sutton was serving as City Attorney for Antioch, CA. He had been a practicing attorney for ten years and was a member of the Ward and Sutton Law Firm in Antioch, CA. He was killed only four months after leaving his law practice to enlist in the armed forces. He was attached to the Naval Aviation Intelligence and was killed in the line of duty in an airplane crash near St. Simmons Island, Georgia. His body was returned to Antioch, CA by a Navy escort. Internment in the Odd Fellows Cemetery.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Lucile(Millikin) Sutton, and his two small daughters, Margaret Ann and Elizabeth Leigh.
