BENAVIDEZ JOHN "RICHARD" Passed away on March 2, 2003 in Castro Valley. Richard was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He was born December 4, 1943 in Oakland, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents Adelena and Timito Benavidez, sister Lorraine Ramirez and a brother Leroy Benavidez. Richard is survived by love of his life Josie of 33 years. Two children John Benavidez II of Hayward, Stacy Vigil of Castro Valley and five grandchildren Anthony Benavidez, Vanessa Vigil, Monika Vigil, Leticia Vigil, Gabrielle Benavidez, Jaquelin and Cheyane. He is also survived by his loving sisters and brother. Clara Davis of Louisiana, Timothy Benavidez of Modesto and Kathy Cordova of Newark. Richard was uncle and great uncle to many nieces and nephews. Richard was a Vietnam vet who served in the Navy for four years. He retired from National Can Company of San Leandro. Richard nickname was Tumbleweed. He loved to fish, garden, teach grandchildren to dance, go camping and take trips to Hawaii and his getaway Reno. John (dad) is much loved and will be extremely missed. Visitation will be Wednesday March 5, 2003 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Funeral service will be Thursday March 6, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. at Chapel of the Chimes Memorial Park and Funeral Home 32992 Mission Blvd. in Hayward.
